In short: we compile figures from official Irish government sources and present them faithfully. Figures can change, estimates are labelled as estimates, and the official source always wins. Spotted an error? Tell us and we'll fix it.
Flush.ie compiles and presents Irish government spending figures, department budgets, and documented cost overruns for public-interest and educational purposes. We are an independent project operated by Conjora Limited. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of the Irish Government, any department, or any state body.
All figures are compiled from official public sources: whereyourmoneygoes.gov.ie, the Public Expenditure Databank (databank.per.gov.ie), Comptroller & Auditor General reports, Public Accounts Committee records, and CSO Government Finance Statistics. Where a figure has been widely reported rather than formally audited (for example, projected costs of ongoing projects), we present it as an estimate.
Figures can be revised by their original sources, and budgets change through the year. We make reasonable efforts to keep data current, but we do not warrant that any figure on this site is accurate, complete, or up to date at the time you read it. The official source always prevails over our presentation of it.
The live spending counter is a pro-rated extrapolation of the official annual expenditure ceiling — it is an illustration, not a real-time measurement.
Our waste tracker reports documented cost overruns on public projects, sourced from C&AG reports, PAC proceedings, and official records. Describing a project as having overrun its budget is a statement about published figures, not an allegation of wrongdoing by any person or organisation.
If you believe any figure is inaccurate or outdated, contact us with the correct source and we will review and correct it promptly.
